Two days ago, Fairy phoned me. She seemed quite happy - but she is only 15, and she does not know what it means. Her family has chosen a young man in Khota, Rajastan, for her to marry. She has met this man several times and she sais she likes him. But she is supposed to marry when she leaves school, at 18 years! This man has said she can go on studying after marriage, but of course, that will not happen. This bright girl, who is studying so hard, being the best in her school, will become a housewife ...

If I had been able to visit the family in October as planned, this would have been one of the subjects I had risen. I would have asked them not to discuss her marriage until she is 18, and I would have asked them that I should see the man before deciding. Now it might be too late. Probably, the only thing I can do is to try to postpone the marriage. I really want this girl to get a proper education!

There is a new ambassador. I have sent a few mails, but no response.
